Well, water and oil is a contradiction in itself, but your work is great, nevertheless! :)

I'm not happy with the water based oils Dirk, they seem to drag a great deal even when using their medium and they sink quite a lot! I have one other work with these then I am pretty certain that I will be back using acrylic again. Thanks for the comments Dirk and for the fave!

I have no experience at all with oil, water based or not

I always used standard oil paint but had not done so for more than 20 years. I am asthmatic and switched to acrylic because of the health benefits - no solvents - I thought that the water based oils would be a step forward but I don't like the lack of flow with them, I find them quite sticky and a struggle to work with. Some artists love them but they are not for me!

O, well, didn't really know that oil was less healthy than acrylic
glad to hear, anyway
i care about my health, especially since my father died from several cancers alt the same time...

Hi John, I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your mother it must have been quite a shock. I'm sure you will always remember her in the good times so keep positive I really hope that 2016 is a good year for you. Grandchild number two was born 9 weeks ago-a boy-so now both daughters have their hands full!

It looks really great. I have a friend that swears by "water soluble oils." But I too have questions. When I wand easy clean up and no solvents and prolonged workability, I've used "open" acrylics by Golden. Anyway though, this looks fantastic.

Ah thanks Vinny, my humour just lost me another contact.  Sigh.....  some people just see life only through negativity and aggression.  Thank God we're not like that. How was your Christmas?  I am so sorry to receive news that Joh's mum passed away in that period.  Poor guy I hope he recovers alright.
I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very happy and prosperous 2016 Vinny!  Take care.
